Last
weekend, one of the most exclusive car shows in the world came to a close, with
a 1938
Bugatti 57SC taking the best in show award. That car is owned by Ralph Lauren, the famous
fashion designer. There were only four
of the 57SC’s built in history, but two of them were destroyed over the course
of time. The only other 57SC in
existence sold at auction for over $30 million.
The car is powered by a 3.3-liter
twincam straight-8 engine producing approximately 200hp. Top speed is said to
be 130 mph, but I don’t think anyone is going to test that theory.
Some of the other prizes at this car
show include most sensitive restoration, most elegant Rolls-Royce, best
preserved pre-war car, best preserved post-war car, most iconic car, best
interior design, most exciting design, and the driven from the farthest away. The
iconic brands of the times like Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Maserati, and
Bugatti were all present at the event with their owners. All in all 50 cars were entered into the
concorso, along with 35 motorcycles. Within
those 50 cars, six were concept vehicles
